COACHING

Whether you are coaching at entry level by coaching your child's team, or you are a more experienced coach guiding our Representative players, all coaches play a crucial role in ensuring netball is a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants.

We encourage everyone with an interest in coaching to volunteer, it can be very rewarding.  Netball Australia offer some excellent coaching courses to give you some of the basics of coaching, starting with their 'Community Coaching  Essential Skills' Course.  This course is designed to assist new, returning or current coaches to create positive, safe and inclusive learning environments for participants to learn, enjoy and thrive through sport.  After completing this course, you are well equipped to volunteer as an Assistant Coach whilst you gain some confidence and learn from more experienced coaches.

Most association team coaches will be expected to hold a current 'Foundation Coach Accreditation' from 2024.  This accreditation is completed online only.  It is designed for beginner coaches, teachers, parents and NetSetGo coaches and offers introductory coaching information and teaches basic netball techniques.  Once you have completed this course, you will have a well rounded understanding of netball coaching.

MNA will reimburse all coaches (who are coaching teams in the MNA Competition) the cost of their Foundation Coaching Accreditation upon receipt of their payment confirmation and completion certificate.

We know that when you first start coaching, it can be a little overwhelming, and that's why we are here to help!  MNA can help coaches with coaching manuals, resources and assistance from experienced coaches who are willing to assist you in your coaching pathway.  Coaches must be 16 years of age or older.  Coaches under 18 yrs must have an unrelated team manager over 18yo to support them.  Please contact us for more information.

Coaches who wish to pursue higher level coaching can undertake their 'Development Coach Accreditation'.  This accreditation is a blended learning program (online and face-to-face components).  This course is targeted at Club, Association and Regional coaches and aims to further their depth of netball knowledge.  It provides a good introduction to skill progression and fault detection and correction.  Development Coach Accreditation is a prerequisite to be eligible to coach* Representative teams at Association Championships & Regional Championships.

*Note - MNA recommends that coaches assist an experienced Development Coach for one season prior to taking on a head coach role at this level.

MNA will reimburse all coaches (who are coaching MNA Rep teams) the cost of their Development Coaching Accreditation upon receipt of their payment confirmation and completion certificate.

Regardless of where you may be at on your coaching pathway, we are always here to help.

UMPIRING

Umpires have an important role to play, and being an umpire provides you with much more than just the ability to officiate the rules of the game!  Our aim is to develop our umpires in a friendly, safe environment whilst teaching them a range of skills from basic up to National 'C Badge' level.

Our umpire training commences with our 'Green Shirt Umpiring' Program.  This is a practical umpiring course aimed at developing and training beginner umpires, of all ages to ultimately attain their National C Badge.  Our trainees are trained by experienced, badged umpires.  We keep our trainee umpire numbers low so that trainee's have the best environment to learn the skills necessary to become a confident, skilled umpire.  The minimum age to participate in this program is 12 years old.

Our 'Green Shirt' Umpiring Program is very popular, with limited placements available throughout the season.  Participants who would like to be listed for our 'Green Shirt Program’, must complete and pass the online 'Rules of Netball' Exam through Netball Australia.  Once completed, please email us the completion certificate and our Umpire Co-ordinator will be in contact once a place becomes available in our program.  Green Shirt umpires will generally start umpiring in our Junior competition, with a mentor in attendance.

Once a trainee/Green Shirt program umpire is competent in the expected skills required, and they can consistently meet the key performance indicators as set by the National Umpire Development Framework, then the National C Badge testing can be arranged at the discretion of the Umpire Coordinator.

Further information regarding umpiring can be obtained by emailing the Association Umpire Development Officer.

CANTEEN

We are so very fortunate to have a Recreational Centre where we have the opportunity to utilise the kitchen facilities to provide a canteen to our members. Our canteen is our main form of fundraising for the season. Help us to continue providing our canteen by volunteering for a timeslot or two over the season!

If you are unable to help with coaching or team managing a team, this is a small way you can contribute and give back to the sport your child is playing, it is also a great way to meet people and build on our netball community.

For further information please email; manjimupnetball@hotmail.com.

JOIN THE COMMITTEE

Manjimup Netball Association is a Not-For-Profit (NFP) Organisation, and like all NFP's, we rely on community members to volunteer their time to help to run the association.  Without our netball community helpers, we would be unable to offer the netball programs that we do each year.

We have a fantastic, dedicated committee, the bonus of being on the committee is that you have a voice into the planning of each season, and the decisions being endorsed by the committee.  This is your opportunity to have your say into the future of the Association.

If you would like to discuss how you can help in the capacity as a Committee Member, or an administrator please contact us via  email manjimupnetball@hotmail.com
